Yuumi - the Magical Cat Yuumi - the Magical Cat

Yuumi

the Magical Cat

UTILITY

A magical cat from Bandle City, Yuumi was once the familiar of a yordle enchantress, Norra. When her master mysteriously disappeared, Yuumi became the Keeper of Norra's sentient Book of Thresholds, traveling through portals in its pages to search for her. Yearning for affection, Yuumi seeks friendly companions to partner with on her journey, protecting them with luminous shields and fierce resolve. While Book strives to keep her on task, Yuumi is often drawn to worldly comforts, such as naps and fish. In the end, however, she always returns to her quest to find her friend.

Yuumi Build Guide

Overview

If you told a random person that the most notorious champion in League of Legends was a cat, and not the myriad of actual evil beings in the game, how would you even begin to explain it? Well… she’s a cat… that sticks to a person… and heals them… and she can’t be targeted! Click here for the latest data on her best builds, including Runes, Items, Summoner Spells, and more.

Keys to Remember for Yuumi Support

  1. This may seem obvious but you can detach from your ally to auto-attack for some extra oomph as the situation calls for it. Don't just default to only sitting on them.

  2. You don't have to latch onto your ADC the entire game. Attach to the strongest person and keep them alive.

Strengths

Yuumi is a champion sometimes suggested to completely new players because it can help them learn how to use abilities -- as she can latch onto a carry and feel safe regardless of whether or not she’s actually safe. The true strength of Yuumi though is that she can attach and detach and jump between champions on her team with relative ease, and in the hands of a good player, she can truly feel impossible to kill. She brings all the utility you would want from an enchant-type support in healing, slows, and CC.

Weaknesses

If you are not latched onto someone, and there’s no one around you, you are perhaps the squishiest and easiest to kill champion in the game. This means in situations where your ally all-ins, you better hope they are able to finish off everyone that’s near them. She also has high mana costs, and being weak or even nonexistent when it comes to trading auto-attacks means you really need a strong laner to pair with.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: Your goal is to poke your opponent down while healing up your carry -- if you can gain a good health advantage, it’ll make it much harder for the opponent to commit to a fight against you. It will also deter junglers from making a stop. Generally, though, you’ll want to play safe.

  2. Mid Game: You can move around the map with a strong teammate as long as they’re looking for a fight -- be careful latching onto teammates who’d rather gain solo experience at this point in the game. Thanks to your Q and your ultimate, though, you will be able to find fights if your team wants them.

  3. Late Game: You’ll need help even more-so than supports typically do when it comes to warding objectives. Make sure you latch onto someone who’s looking to play for map control at this point -- typically a jungler -- before swapping over to someone who can help you start fights. If you don’t have someone who has strong engage, look to stay with a carry to peel with your ultimate instead.
