Overview
If you like being the big guy with a shield, then you’ve come to the right place. Braum does exactly as he looks -- he stands in front of his allies and blocks damage from reaching them with his big shield, and in the process provides some good lockdown to help you secure kills. Keys to Remember for Braum Support
Braum is first and foremost a defensive champion, which means your primary objective is to peel and protect your team.
That said, he has offensive capabilities that can catch opponents off guard -- comboing his Q with his passive can lead to a quick and unexpected stun if you have a teammate to help you out.
Strengths
Braum’s passive allows you and your allies to stun a target very easily, and all you need to do is land a Concussive Blow or an auto-attack to get the party started. This makes Braum extremely strong against opponents who get too close to a bush he’s already occupying. Once you hit level 6, you gain an even more powerful way of locking down an opponent, so don’t let the big shield fool you -- he’s not just a defensive support. That said, come team fights, his Unbreakable can mitigate a ton of damage if you time it correctly. Braum is a fairly straightforward champion that rewards good positioning and timing.
Weaknesses
As a melee support, he’s susceptible to being harassed and poked out by ranged pairs. The long cooldown on Unbreakable means it’s not easy to use it to help you out in trades. This issue is compounded if your ADC is also a weak laner, so be wary with who you choose to pick Braum into. And as a melee champion, Braum is much better as a peeler than as an engage-oriented pick, even if he has the ability to do so. Glacial Fissure can be difficult to land without any other form of support from your team.
Game Plan
Early Game: If you can land Concussive Blow, that makes it much easier for you to win a trade, and you should be willing to commit to a fight especially against ranged champions as you can counter most of their damage with a well timed shield.
Mid Game: You should mainly be playing around a carry -- you are much more efficient at supporting a play than generating one yourself, so be on the lookout for where you think skirmishes are about to happen.
Late Game: Your primary focus should be on keeping your carries alive, and because all of your abilities are very good at doing that, it’s wise to be patient. Unless a perfect opportunity presents itself, you don’t want to blow everything trying to start a fight when that’s not your strong suit.
